The occurrences on Social Anxiety Disorder have not been recent or new in the era of anxiety disorders despite the heightened attention from the medical community and media in recent years. Research and developments into Social Anxiety have witnessed great improvements in medications used for treating Social Anxiety. These Social Anxiety specific medications are widely available in the marketplace nowadays even though there are great deals of other general anti-anxiety medications that produce the same effects as those specific-purpose medications.

Person with social anxiety disorder exhibits the characteristics of avoidance or endurance of social situations because fear of embarrassment, humiliation, negative self-evaluation and judgment in that person causes such intense anxiety and tension that he or she experiences difficulties in dealing with these situations at all. Unlike some other kinds of psychological problems, people with social anxiety are often misdiagnosed almost 80% of the time because it is not well understood both by general public as well as the medical professionals. Nevertheless, I cannot stress enough that you must determine that your complaints reflect the symptoms of a social anxiety disorder or otherwise. Treatment alternatives and medications for social anxiety disorder are well within your range; therefore, do not presume that your problem is an anxiety disorder before you have carefully analyze your conditions against the symptoms of social anxiety disorder.

Fear of being socially humiliated, fear of being embarrassed, heightened feelings of awareness, and shortness of breath, sweaty hands, trembling and twitching. However if you're unwilling to get on the medication bandwagon, there are always alternative treatments available for you. Therapy can also be a viable alternative to Social Anxiety medications and can help you greatly. Talk with your doctor about all your alternatives and find the right one for you.
