You Can Overcome Panic Attacks By Taking Small Steps

By Pascal Athlo

The bad thing about panic attacks is that they can occur suddenly when you least expect them. You are in no way prepared to deal with them.

You might be having fun with your friends or doing some other work. All of a sudden, you get a panic attack.

This might cause you to become fearful of engaging in the activity which you were doing at the time of the attack.

But the good news is that the activity, event or place in which you suffered panic attack may have nothing to do with the attack.

So, you do not need to avoid those situations or places. You can go on living as usual.

This may seem difficult at first, but when you don't let panic affect your life, it will stop haunting you.

Initially, it would be difficult to deal with this problem courageously. So, don't try anything big in order to deal with this problem.

You are better off, taking small actionable steps which can help to overcome panic attacks. As an example, if you are afraid of going shopping, take a friend along with you who is aware of your disorder.

If the doctor has prescribed any pills for you, keep them handy just in case. This way, you will feel more confident in going to places where you fear another attack.

Don't try to go alone. If you become too brave suddenly, then it can cause more problem for you. Become brave little by little in tackling the problem.

Keep reminding yourself in normal circumstances that panic attacks are not dangerous - they only feel so. You feel like dying or having a heart attack, but you are not actually having it.

Have you ever come across any reports of people dying because of panic attacks? In most cases, they are not at all dangerous but only look like so.

You will feel a little safer in this knowledge. You will now know that even if another attack happens, it will soon end up and you probably won't be hurt in the process.

Remember to take small, manageable baby-steps that develop more courage in you and move you in positive direction. Do not attempt something big suddenly, but go about it gradually.

After some time, you may no longer fear panic attacks. At this point, they may fade away on their own!

Please remember that avoid taking pills or medication for this problem as much as possible. Only take them when the problem gets seriously out of hand or you are really fearful.

Natural methods of treatment or behavior therapy are far better alternatives to learn how to overcome panic attacks. They are not likely to cause side effects like medication. - 30309
